Islamic Festivals

Islamic festivals, Ramadan days and the night of the Almighty are the best days of the year. Islam has relatively few holidays compared to most other religions. Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha are the two official holidays in Islam.

First Islamic festivals is Eid Al-Fitr it celebrated at the end of the month of Ramadan, whereas Eid Al-Adha lands on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic calendar); and the second Islamic festivals .

Islamic holidays occur on dates in the Islamic (Hijri) calendar, which is lunar, and thus their dates in the Gregorian calendar, which is solar, change each year.
In Muslim countries, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are public holidays. Eid al-Adha that involving with animal sacrifice, known as Qurbani, prayers and family gatherings. The day begins with morning prayers, followed by Islamic festival prayers then visits to family and friends and the exchange of food and gifts.

The Five Pillars of Islam are:

– SHAHADAH.: Faith – “There is no god except Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah”.
– SALAH: Prayer – Praying five times a day.
– ZAKAH: Donate – Each year, Muslims are supposed to donate a fixed proportion 2.5 % of their savings for good deeds.

“Zakat is payable at 2.5% of the wealth one possesses above the nisab. Nisab, which is equal to three ounces of gold, is the minimum amount of wealth one must have before they are liable to pay zakat”.

– SAWM: Fasting – Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
– HAJJ: Pilgrimage – Making a pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in the lifetime of a Muslim, if it is affordable
