What is Ramadan Month?
Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims; all over the world. All Muslims started celebrate it as the month during which Muhammad received the initial revelations of the Holy Quran.
Ramadan is a month of fasting and abstaining from some bad things such as to impure for the mind and body.
All Muslims in Ramadan abstain from food; drink and impure thoughts between the hours of sunrise (Fajr) and sunset; allowing them instead to focus on prayer; and connecting with Allah (SWT).
According to the Muslim religion; the obligation to fast on Ramadan applies to every Muslim man; and woman from the age of puberty (usually about 12 or 13 years old); and includes refraining from eating; drinking, smoking, taking medications; and engaging in sexual relations.
So that drinking & eating during the fast is also forbidden from the sun shin to the sun set.
Children are not required to fast but they’re welcome to learn by participating; such as fasting up until lunchtime. If you miss a fast, you can make up for it by fasting at a later date.
The act of fasting allows the individual to understand the pain; plus suffering of millions around the world who live their lives in poverty; and famine leaving the participant Muslims feeling more grounded; grateful for all that Allah (SWT) has given them.
At the close of the Ramadan month; all muslims must pay their Zakat donations; and then they get ready to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with loved ones.
Finally Eid is a great time of feasting and celebration for all Muslims; where all Muslims exchange gifts between them to spread the love too. It’s the end of these great holidays.
